Tennessee’s post depth took a hit Monday with the announcement that forward Faith Dupree would be sidelined for the season because of lower back pain. The freshman had been bothered by back spasms and a decision was made to spend this season working on her core strength and flexibility off the floor so that she would be healthy on the court next year.   Full Story

Tonight at 8:15 p.m. EST the New England Patriots take on the Indianapolis Colts in the controlled atmosphere of the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana. One of the Pats' cornerbacks is Duquesne alum Leigh Bodden. Bodden, who was one of three Dukes inducted into the DU Sports Hall of Fame last month, will have the opportunity to introduce himself to a national NBC audience.   Full Story

Kara Lawson is making her off-season home in Knoxville for now as she rehabs a quadriceps injury and waits for college basketball to begin. The former Lady Vol, who has made a name in the WNBA and on the U.S. Olympic team, is also a standout television broadcaster for ESPN, and she will handle the doubleheader next month in San Antonio featuring Tennessee and Texas Tech and Connecticut and Texas.   Full Story

Basketball practice officially begins today for the Lady Vols, but Tennessee got in one last session Thursday afternoon under the workout format that included a familiar face in Nicky Anosike. She started her first game as a pro for Minnesota, and has yet to leave the lineup. ATLANTA – When Chamique Holdsclaw walked onto the Philips Arena floor for pre-game warmups the first person to greet her was Tamika Catchings, who wrapped her former Tennessee teammate in a huge hug. Has the men's game become too muscle-bound? Before the catcalls begin, let's pause for a sec. If there were a card to carry, I'd be a card-carrying fan of the NBA and men's college basketball. I find little point in the all-too-frequent comparisons of the athleticism and skills of male v. female basketball players.
