While Tennessee slipped past Vanderbilt 69-60 on Monday night, the final score did not tell the whole story. As fans from both sides know who watched ESPN and from their seats at Memorial Gym, Vandy, the little team that could, played with intensity and held their own against a much taller, more physical squad.   Full Story

As the final seconds ticked away and a Tennessee victory was assured, Vanderbilt point guard Jence Rhoads faced the goal with a determined grimace, and popped in a three. The junior’s 3-pointer did not change the final outcome, a 69-60 Lady Vols win at Memorial Gym, but it did trim the orange lead to single digits, and for much of the game, the shoe was on the other foot.   Full Story

A year ago, Tennessee Coach Pat Summitt was changing starting lineups the way some people change socks as she struggled to find a competitive combination. She’s doing the same thing this season, but the Lady Vols are sitting in first place in the SEC with a goal to win out the month of February. The next challenge is a steep one – playing at Vanderbilt, a place Tennessee lost at last season.   Full Story

Was it going to be “déjà-vu all over again” for the Vandal women’s basketball team Wednesday night? Three games in a row the Vandals had been in a position to pull out a WAC win in the second half only to fall by five points at San Jose, two points at home against Utah State, and last week by two in overtime at Louisiana Tech. This time, however, Idaho prevailed and hung on to beat Nevada 61-53.   Full Story
