Being selected as an All American is one of the greatest honors a high school athlete can attain. Regrettably, at times, an element of politics enters into the selections as adults meddle in the accomplishments of kids.
Here are the young women Full Court Press and its new affiliate, Full Court Preps believe deserve the distinction based on pure merit. We hope for the sake of the players that when the teams are announced for the WBCA All American game and the McDonald’s All American game the rosters closely resemble this one.
Keep posted for updates and analysis once the final selections are announced.
East
The East team is very strong in the backcourt with Skylar Diggins and Dara Taylor, two of the top point guards in the country. This year, there is a dominant 6’6’’ center in the West (with two strong 6’4” back-ups) with no center in the East who can really match her. No question, that’s going to hurt the East in the paint, but the number of strong guards and slashers should keep them in the game.
West
For the West, Brittney Griner and Kelsey Bone on the same team is scary. Bone (and Tayler Hill) may be undecided as far as school but there is nothing uncertain about the inside presence of this team. When you can have Monique Oliver as your fourth post player, leave Nikki Green off the team, and suit up 6’1” guards, it is pretty impressive.
