Bianca Lutley, a 5’11’’ point guard out of Plantation, Florida's American Heritage School, committed to Van Chancellor and the LSU Tigers Monday night, according to her club Coach Pat Gajardro.
Lutley is ranked Number 19 by Full Court Press in the recruiting class of 2009 nationally and is the second nationally ranked player from the Sunshine State to commit this year.
Lutley played on one of the top travel teams in the nation this year in Team Breakdown which is based out of Miami, Florida. Team Breakdown, led by Lutley, finished second at the Disney Junior Showcase and in the top 16 at AAU Junior Nationals.
American Heritage picked up Lutley last week as she transferred from Pensacola High School where she had led them to two final four appearances in the past four years. Pensacola was the class 4A State runner Up last year. American Heritage becomes a national level team and a likely favorite for the Class 3A crown with the addition of Lutley and the inside presence of Wake Forest commit Sandra Garcia who also played for Team Breakdown. The move to Delray Beach puts Lutley less than two hours from the 2009 McDonald’s All American game, a game she is likely to play in before front a home crowd.
Lutley is a two-time Florida Sports Writers Association All-State Selection and, according to many experts, the leading contender for Ms. Florida Basketball this season.
With her phone call, Lutley joins Adrienne Webb and junior college center Jasmine Nelson as the Tigers' third commitment of the year. LSU beat out South Florida, Kentucky, Rutgers, and Florida in the sweepstakes for Luley’s services.
